I did a series of of watercolor/doodle placemats - about 11 x 14 inches. I had mucho FUN and it was a relaxing way to cope with weather that has been cold, windy, rainy and just unpleasant. 

 Here are the placemats - hopefully they will generate actual table conversation!!!

ROCKY ROAD

How many of us have had the pleasure of walking along a country road and suddenly, as the road dips a bit, we get to see faaaaar down the road. It is one of those a-ha moments. We just want to sit down on a nearby roack over by that fence - and soak the colors and peacefulness in.

OVERLAND RUSH

Water, water, everywhere! In our lake country we love our lakes and streams... in our backyards, not so much.  This painting is one made with random strokes in a mentally guided composition. One just never knows how it will turn out and how challenging it is to finalize into a painting.

Having fun with acrylics (on paper) and texture materials made for this nebulous centaur in the cosmos. Could there be a constellation such as this? Interesting to speculate.

Rosemalled plates and plaque

Another set of Norwegian Rosemalling to be exhibited at the July 6 & 7 Cormorant Area Art Club Art Show.

The plaque at the top is a design from the Hallingdal region, the blue wooden plate, bottom left, is a Telemark design and the red wooden plate is Hallingdal. The blue plate is a commissioned piece for someone with a new home. 

It is very relaxing and time can fly by when painting this kind of art. Kinda like "zen" doodling, mehinks.

Norwegian rosemaling is representative of the various regions of Norway:
    * top left: Rogaland
    * top right & lower right: Valdrus
    * lower left: a "nissa" building a snowman

I will have these at the Cormornat Area Art Club annual Fine Art Show July 6 & 7. Hope to see some of you there ... as it is FUN to visit and catch up on "life!"

FANCY ME!

Another whimsy one - this time white ink on charcoal paper. Doodles are fun and relaxing. It allows no stress. SO, if you are anxious and stressed - try just doodling. A lot cheaper than valium!

WHITE GERANIUM

Had painted a red geranium similar to this - and the buyer wanted a white one to go with it. SO, fun is fun and doing another one to make a "pair." Trying NOT to copy the first one yet make them a pair was a challenge.

FLOWERING QUARTET

These flowers are all done on a 5x7 inch sheet canvas - matted and framed. A lot of fun painting them as well as learning about color combinations "in nature." Will have to find another "quartet" of flowers to paint - or maybe it will be a set of four animals or birds. Have to ponder that a bit.

May make note cards of these as I think they would cheer up anyone receiving them..at least I can hope.
