Just Floating Along

Just Floating Along.

Loons generate a lot of interest and are treasured by the "lake people" in the Minnesota lake country. This is a simple loon watercolor painting done on watercolor paper that has been stretched on stretcher bars. It needs no frame - it is ready to hang as one would hang a canvas. It is varnished and therefore NO GLASS.

Painting image as framed is 10 x 12.5 inches.

Tunnel Vision

Tunnel Vision
The urban landscape presents many intriguing scenes of people, facades, building status, signs and yes, even alleys. In fact - maybe the alleys are the most interesting - depending on the time of day, of course.

This alleyway looks north toward St. Mary's Cathedral in downtown Fargo.

It is a wax batik watercolor painting on Japanese Ginwashi paper.

The image is 5.5 x 9 inches; framed 10 x 14 inches.

Moorhead City Hall, Moorhead, Minnesota

Moorhead City Hall and Moorhead Center Mall
Moorhead, Minnesota

Moorhead City Hall is an interesting building with its "salt-box" shape and slat windows. It's first floor is contained within a mall shopping building.

The buildings proportions and interesting shadow shapes around the windows make it lovely when the sun shines on it. Hmm - sun shining on city hall. What a thought.

This is a watermedia painting on watercolor paper

Image is 9.5 x 9.5 inches; framed 14 x 14 inches.

Three's a Crowd.

Three's a Crowd!
I painted this for the bi-annual Crow Show sponsored by The Spirit Room in Fargo, ND. It is a watercolor painting on Japanese Ginwashi paper. It will be floated in a matted frame.

This painting uses the symbolism of the moon, sun, and circles representing life. Crows in the American Indian culture can represent the idea of birds as cheats and tricksters; the Old English will connect them to death, or as Far Eastern people believe, crows are guardians of the soul. I see them as frolicking, bobbing, curious and attentive to their surroundings. They seldom are tricked by other entities - - and are quite fun to observe.

Watercolor on Japanese Ginwashi paper, 16 x 16 inches framed; image 10 x 10 inches.
